Breaking news out of the Middle East right now, as Yemen’s Houthi movement said on Friday it had fired a ballistic missile toward the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, reports Reuters. The Arab coalition waging war in Yemen stated it had intercepted and destroyed the missile around 120 miles west from the city.
The incident happened just a day before Trump was scheduled to visit the capital Riyadh in his first stop of the foreign trip as a President of the United States.
The group, Houthi, is allied with Iran and said it had launched a Burkan-1 missile toward Riyadh, Houthi announced by their official news agency, but gave no further details. The Saudi-led coalition later explained that they took down a Houthi missile just 120 miles west from the Riyadh city. The area is open desert and there were no casualties.
However, it’s all clear by now, thanks to the fast reaction by the Saudi-led coalition.
President Trump was scheduled to meet with top Saudi officials and conclude important security and trade deals.
Our new administration is considering to improve the non-lethal support, such as intelligence for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, reversing the policy by our former President Obama who curbed the US role due to mounting civilian deaths.
Let’s take a moment and pray that President Trump will stay safe during his stay in Saudi Arabia, as well as Israel. His safety is our priority.
Please share if President Trump has your prayers!
